MC34825 Micro-USB Interface IC

Freescale Semiconductor has introduced the MC34825 Micro-USB Interface IC which is designed to support the Universal Charging Solution (UCS) and USB connection for other wired accessories.

ISL80102 and ISL80103 low voltage, high-current LDOs

Intersil introduced the ISL80102 and ISL80103 chips which are low voltage, high-current, single output LDOs specified for 2A and 3A output current. ISL80102 and ISL80103 operate from an input voltages of 2.2V to 6V and are capable of providing output voltages of 0.8V to 5V on the adjustable VOUT versions or a fixed output voltage available in 0.8V, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V.

The the ISL80102 and ISL80103main features are : 0.5% initial VOUT Accuracy , Designed for 2.2V to 6V Input Supply , ±1.8% Guaranteed VOUT Accuracy for Junction Temperature Range from -40°C to +125°C , 185mV Dropout @ 3A, 125mV Dropout @ 2A , Fast Load Transient Response , Rated Output Current Options of 2A and 3A , Adjustable In-Rush Current Limiting , Fixed and Adjustable VOUT Options Available , 65dB Typical PSRR , Output Noise of 100μVRMS between 300Hz to 300kHz , 900mV Enable Input Threshold , Short-Circuit Current Protection , 1A Peak Reverse Current , Over-Temperature Shutdown .

The ISL80102 and ISL80103 require few external components to finish the design and are veary easy to use in many applications like : DSP, FPGA and μP Core Power Supplies , Noise-Sensitive Instrumentation Systems ,Post Regulation of Switched Mode Power Supplies ,Medical Equipment , Telecommunications and Networking Equipment and many other applications .

If is used the adjustable version the output voltage can be programmed to any level between 0.8V

and 5V using an external resistor divider R1 and R2 Equation 1 . The recommended value for R2 is 500Ωto 1kΩ. R1 is then must be chosen according to Equation 2:

LTC3855 step-down switching regulator controller

Linear Technology has introduced the LTC3855 dual PolyPhase® current mode synchronous step-down switching regulator controller that drives all N-channel power MOSFET stages. LTC3855 includes a high speed differential remote sense amplifier. LTC3855 support a wide input voltage range from 4.5V to 38V and can produce a maximum output voltage up to 12.5 V .

The LTC3855 supports Burst Mode® operation, continuous or pulse-skipping modes . The maximum current sense voltage is programmable for either 30mV, 50mV or 75mV, allowing the use of either the inductor DCR or a discrete sense resistor as the sensing element.

The LTC3855 can be configured for up to 12-phase operation, has DCR temperature compensation, two power good signals and two current limit set pins and many other features like :  High Efficiency: Up to 95% ,  RSENSE or DCR Current Sensing ,  Programmable DCR Temperature Compensation ,  ±0.75% 0.6V Output Voltage Accuracy , Phase-Lockable Fixed Frequency 250kHz to 770kHz , True Remote Sensing Differential Amplifier , Dual N-Channel MOSFET Synchronous Drive , Wide VIN Range: 4.5V to 38V ,  VOUT Range: 0.6V to 12.5V without Differential Amplifier ,  VOUT Range: 0.6V to 3.3V with Differential Amplifier , Clock Input and Output for Up to 12-Phase Operation ,  Adjustable Soft-Start or VOUT Tracking , Foldback Output Current Limiting ,  Output Overvoltage Protection .
