Various simple electronics projects for beginners

Various simple electronics projects circuits diagrams for hobbyist and beginners . Simple circuits, mini projects with diagrams and description from many electronics categories.

Solar powered garden lights electronic project

A very simple garden light electronic project circuit can be designed using some common electronic parts and a small solar panel . As you can see in this solar powered garden lights schematic circuit , the garden light electronic project , require one transistor, a 2.5 volt solar panel and some other electronic components . This solar powered garden lights project will automatically turns on and illuminates the LEDs when the solar panel does not detect any light. It switches off when the solar panel produces more than 1v and charges the battery when the panel produces more than 1.5v + 0.6v = 2.1v The coils from this circuit require a f29 core material . The coils must be from an 0.095 mm CuEm wire on a 2.6x6mm core . Solar powered garden light electronic project circuit diagram

Flash blinky lights circuit

A very simple flash light circuit can be designed using common electronic components . As you can see in this flash light circuit schematic, this electronic project can be designed using few electronic components . When the S1 switch is closed , power is applied to U1 and U2 .

Two inverters of U2,a 4049 hex inverter buffer , are connected in a low frequency oscillator circuit that feeds clock pulses into U1, a 4017 decade counter . Outputs 0,2,4,6 and 8 of U1 are coupled to the gate of Q1 through a 1N914 diode . As the 4017 counts down , it turns the light on and off four times and then leaves it on until the S1 switch is released .

The on off rate can be set by R2 potentiometer . For best results , the on off rate should be set so that it is rapid .
This flash light electronic project must be powered from a 12 volt DC power supply .

Panel meter using ICL7107 ICL7106

A very simple digital panel meter electronic project can be designed using the ICL7107 or ICL7106 high performance, low power, 3 1/2 digit A/D converters . The ICL7106 converter can drive LCD display and the ICL7107 converter can drive LED display .
The ICL7107 IC is that because it is powered by +5V and -5V it can accept inputs in the range +4V to - 4V.
As you can see from the schematic circuit most of the connections are between the ICL7107 and the LED's. The ICL7107 contains a number of inputs which can be varied to do different things. Of prime importance is the reference voltage, VREF, which is set by the 10K trimpot and R3. With the addition of only two capacitors the 7660 IC performs the complete supply voltage conversion from positive to negative for an input range of 1.5 to 10V, resulting in complementary output voltages of -1.5V to -10V.
ICL7107 uses a dual slope conversion technique. It relies on the charging and discharging of an integrating capacitor and having a counter count when the capacitor voltage is above a set value. Since the capacitor discharge is linear the counter reading is proportional to the input voltage.

A jumper selects the decimal point position in the displays .
Since the maximum value which can be displayed is 1999, voltmeters with full scale readings of 199.9mV, 1.999V, 19.99V etc. can be made.
The user must decide their own need. Then a reference voltage and maybe an input attenuator must be selected.
To use the meter to measure 0 - 199.9mV the trimpot is adjusted so that the reference voltage between pins 35 & 36 is 100mV. And to set the meter for 0 - 1.999V, VREF must be set to 1.0V.
